During my corporate workshops I'm often asked:
"How can I use a mic effectively?"
Michael Douglas gives a perfect example in one
of the best movie presentations ever in his movie
'Wallstreet':
Michael, like most persuasive presenter, easily walks
around with a mic in his one hand.
Most poor presenters hide behind the podium while talking
into the microphone. Doing so creates a distance between
them and their audience.
This is what I also call the "I-hide-behind-the-podium-
and-talk-to-the-mic-not-the-audience" syndrome. It
is one of the best ways to send your audiences to sleep.
Whenever you have to use a microphone, put it in
your hand and comfortably walk the room while
presenting.
That way you show that you not only have confidence,
but will also show your audience that they are your
focus.
Two years ago was the first time I tried
it, and immediately fell in love with it.
I believe wakeboarding is one of the
ultimate fun and lifestyle sports for
summer.
The excitement, the adrenaline. Plus, the
great time you can spend with friends.
Similar to snowboarding, the first session
might be a little painful.
The first time I tried it, it took me over
15 minutes before I was able to ride the
water without falling down (in the first
15 minutes I must have fallen a thousand
times or so ^^).
Last year I mastered many of the basics,
so this year I will start jumping. Wish me
luck!
In case you've never tried wakeboarding,
give it a shot this summer. It is less dangerous
than it looks and you will for sure get at least
a fun story to tell friends about.
Have a look at some professional wakeboarders
(don't try this out at home):
The only question left: when and where can
you try it out?
What do the most successful entrepreneurs know you don't?
Here are the 3 books I strongly recommend if you want to become more successful with your business (or if you want to start one):
1. The Star Principle by Richard Koch
Richard made 100+ million pounds using the principle he teaches in this book. This book will help you chose the right business opportunities (and you will figure out if you're in the wrong business).
2. The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber
Michael will give you the mindset to automate your
business. You will learn the #1 biggest mistake
people make who start in their own business.
This book shows you how to take a quantum leap.
3. The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferris
What's your business worth if you don't know how
to enjoy your life?! Tim shows you how to outsorce,
cut hours and create the lifestyle you want.
Having worked myself in marketing, sales
and partially advertising, I can say with
certainty: It's an absolute MUST for your
success!!!
Without proper marketing your products or
services will be a success and neither will
you.
Especially if you have your own business (or
want it someday in the future) marketing is
the one area you will not be able to delegate
for the most part.
The question is just who do you learn from
about marketing?
Even though I've read lots of books and taken
lots of workshops on the topics, there are only
a few people I will listen to (because many of
them I believe simply aren't good enough).
One of the few people I recommend to learn
from about marketing is Seth Godin.
(BTW, when I say learn from I'm talking to
young and old. I don't think you can be too
old or too young to continue learning about
marketing)
His blog is the most famous marketing blog
(a marketer who makes his own blog No. 1,
how is that for credibility) on the planet full
of great tips.
One of my all time favorite books is ‘4-Hour Workweek’ by Tim Ferris, who I HIGHLY admire.
Using Tim’s strategies I decreased my work time while maximizing my results, and overall have a far more FUN lifestyle. (I still read part of his book weekly)
Tim’s blog is an outstanding source of fun and exciting information to help you create your ultimate lifestyle.

His latest post is about a great inspirational speaker and amazing human being: Nick Vujicic.
Have a look at the video, Tim’s recommends (his mother send it to him):

One of my easiest tips for becoming a Persuasive Presenteriss very simple:Give MORE Presentations!!!
It actually doesn’t matter if each one becomes a hit or not. What matters is that you learn something everytime.
Think about the following examples:
1. Jack gives 3 presentations in 2009. 2. Tina gives 3 PTs PER MONTH (=36) in 2009.
Who has a clear advantage?Tina of course.
For Jack to gain the experience that Tinagot would take him 12 years. 12 YEARS!!!
YOU decide how fast you become great at presentation. YOU are the one to turn your into a Persuasive Presenter(…or not).
My suggestion: Schedule a presentation a week in 2009.
Who can you present to?Coworkers or bosses or employees (very official), familymembers, friends, visit a Toastmasters presentation club www.toastmasters.org (to find a club near you).
Give short presentations. Even 3 minutes. (increase it over the year, as you become more confident)
After each presentation ask yourself:
a. What did I do well? b. What can I learn and improve for next time?
If you really do this, and improve something every time, you have good chances to becomeone of the best presenters in your field within one year.
So one more thing to do: Get out your scheduler rightnow, make some phone calls or announcements andset up your presentation plan for 2009.
Are you ready to become a leading presenter in yourfield?
Get excited,

Are you interested in A.I. (artificial intelligence)?
If yes (at least a little bit), you will find the TED presentation from Ray Kurzweil very interesting.
Ray is the NY Times bestselling author of ‘The Singularity is Near’ which will come out as a movie in 2009 (believe it or not, starring Success Coach Tony Robbins in a main role).
Bill Gates, Microsoft founder, calls Ray “the best person I know at predicting the future of artificial intelligence”.
I strongly recommend you watch the whole video where Ray presents his theory.
One thing to realize from his presentation (besides the fact that the contents is highly interesting) is that he is NOT the best presenter, BUT his passion for his topic really makes up for that.
Have you watched the latest Batman movie ‘The Dark Knight’?
If not, I strongly urge you to do so.
The movie is rated as No. 5 on IMDb, the world’s largest movie database (at the moment I’m writing this blog).
One of the main reasons the movie is so incredible is because of Heath Ledger who is playing the JOKER.
Unfortunately, Heath passed away shortly after the movie.
Insiders and movie fans alike are convinced that the last role of his life will bring him the OSCAR at the next Academy Awards (I think so too).
In the movie, Heath as the Joker gives an amazingly persuasive presentation which is called “The Pencil Trick” scene.
When you watch the video, focus on 4 things:
a. His attention-grabbing introduction b. His body language (especially his persuasive eyes) c. His vivid language (all words are pictures) d. His conclusion (extremely convincing!)
I know, I know. I’m a little late with my wishes for 2009.
Anyway, I wish you the best for this year: bigger success, more money, more influential relationships, more fun, more joy, more passionate experiences!!!
But I also with you something else: LESS stress, LESS worry, LESS clutter, LESS stuff (yes, you read correctly; most of your things are actually holding you back), LESS negative relationships, LESS worry about the current economical situation.
Here is my simple step system for you to get ready for the new year in 10 minutes or less:
1. Write down 5 things you want (REALLY meaningful goals) 2. Write down 3 things you do NOT want to do anymore
(the following steps go beyond 10 minutes)
3. Get a close friend and do the same with him or her 4. Take MASSIVE action!!! (stop thinking and act on your goals) 5. Check with your friend on each other’s progress once a week
Hope you get MORE of the good stuff, and less of the bad Stuff this year!
