Sometimes in life all you have are 3 minutes to pitch
people your ideas.
This especially often happens when it comes to getting
investors for you product or a company you want to
start.
It can also be that you need to give a short presentation
to your team or the board or pitching a client or in many
other high-pressure situations.
They will give you a few minutes to pitch your idea and
based on what they hear, they want to meet you again
and discuss investing in you.
If you have ever watched the TV show ‘Dragon’s Den’
(which I highly recommend) you know what I mean.
The bad news is that these type of presentations are
probably the most nerve-wrecking of all.
The stakes are high and all you have are 3 minutes to win.
The good news are that if you can convince your audience,
the payoff is usually very high.
Either you get the big investment, or the contract, or the
agreement. Either way, you WIN! And you win BIG!
Here are just a few tips we can give you for now:
1. Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse – most people fail, because
they don’t practice.
2. Include props, visuals, etc in your presentation to make
it more attractive (BUT only the most important ones)
3. Project a friendly, go-getter personality (I hope you are
like that anyway)
4. Give them the numbers, the nitty-gritty (again ONLY the
most important ones)
5. Do NOT go over time! You will lose trust and respect from
the person in front of you (most successful people are VERY
time conscious).
Get excited,
Ben
